Terms of Service

Last updated: December 2025

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the PDFDancer API, web services, and hosted features (the "Service"), operated by The Famous Cat Ltd., a company registered in Hong Kong ("we," "our," or "us").

Our client SDKs are open source and distributed under their respective licenses.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Use of the Service

You may use PDFDancer only in compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws.

  • The Free Plan may be used without payment and includes watermarking on all output PDFs.
  • The Pro Plan removes watermarks and provides unlimited hosted usage.
  • The Enterprise Plan provides a self-hosted version of the PDFDancer engine under a separate commercial agreement.

We grant you a non-exclusive, revocable right to use the hosted Service.

Your use of the open-source SDKs is governed solely by their respective open-source licenses (e.g., MIT or Apache-2.0).

2. Accounts and API Keys

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and API keys secure. Do not share or resell them.

If you believe your credentials have been compromised, contact us immediately at support@pdfdancer.com.

3. Fair Use and Restrictions

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent purposes.
  • Attempt to copy, reverse engineer, or replicate the hosted infrastructure.
  • Circumvent watermarking, rate limits, or billing mechanisms.
  • Use the Service in a way that disrupts or degrades availability for others.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Payments and Refunds

All paid plans are billed monthly, in advance, through our payment provider. Subscriptions renew automatically each month unless cancelled. You may cancel anytime — there are no long-term commitments.

Refunds are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy. If you forget to cancel before renewal, contact us within 7 days and we'll issue a refund.

5. Open-Source SDKs

All official client SDKs (e.g., Java, Python, TypeScript) are open source and distributed under permissive licenses. You are free to use, modify, and redistribute them under those licenses.

These Terms apply only to the hosted API and paid Service, not the SDKs themselves.

6. Ownership and Data

  • You retain full ownership of all PDFs, data, and content you upload or process.
  • We claim no rights over your content, except as necessary to process and return results.
  • All server-side software, algorithms, and branding remain the property of The Famous Cat Ltd.

7. Availability and Support

We strive to maintain high availability for all hosted services.

  • Planned maintenance windows and known incidents are announced at status.pdfdancer.com.
  • You can subscribe on that page to receive updates about maintenance, outages, and service health.
  • While we aim to announce all planned maintenance in advance, unplanned or emergency downtime may still occur.

We make reasonable efforts to restore service as quickly as possible in the event of an interruption.

Support is available by email at support@pdfdancer.com.

8. Enterprise Licenses

Enterprise and self-hosted versions are governed by separate written agreements. If a conflict exists between that agreement and these Terms, the Enterprise agreement prevails.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that processed PDFs will be error-free or compatible with all readers.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Famous Cat Ltd. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or profits.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to PDFDancer during the preceding three months.

11. Termination

You may cancel your account or subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service.

Upon termination, all rights granted under these Terms cease immediately.

12. Privacy

We collect and process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using PDFDancer, you consent to that processing.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. If material changes occur, we'll notify you by email or through our website.

Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong SAR.

Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of Hong Kong.
